Installed actuators

When designing fire safety systems, special attention should be paid to the actuators of fire dampers, due to the introduction of new regulatory requirements from 1 May 2009. According to paragraph 7.18 of SP 7.13130.2009, the actuators of normally closed fire dampers, smoke dampers and smoke exhaust dampers must maintain the set position of the damper leaf when the power supply to the damper actuator is switched off. For this reason, it is recommended to use actuators in the above mentioned dampers which are controlled by energising the actuator, in particular electromagnetic actuators and electro-mechanical reversing actuators.
